The Managing Committee
The club is run by a Managing Committee, elected from the membership to oversee the running of the club and make decisions in the best interests of its members.
The committee is responsible for the management of the club, including finances, organising entertainment, representing to members, staffing, maintenance of the premises, ensuring the club operates in line with its rules and licensing requirements and most of all to shape the clubs future for the next generation to enjoy.
Who is on the Committee
The Managing Committee is made up of:
* President
* Vice-President
* Treasurer
* Between 6 and 12 elected committee members
The Secretary acts as the club’s executive officer, handling administration, records, and meetings.
What the Committee Does
The committee meets at least once a month to:
* Manage the day-to-day affairs of the club
* Make decisions on spending and improvements
* Oversee staff and operations
* Ensure the club follows its rules and legal obligations
* Represent the interests of the membership
Why the Committee Matters
The committee exists to protect and run the club on behalf of its members. All major decisions about how the club operates are made through the committee, ensuring the club remains financially stable, well managed, and a welcoming place for members.
How to Join the Committee
Committee members are normally elected each year following the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
To stand for election you must:
* Be a member of the club for at least 6 months
* Be proposed and seconded by two members
Elections are decided by a vote of the membership.
If a committee seat becomes vacant during the year, the committee may appoint a member to fill the position until the next election.
Members who care about the future of the club are always encouraged to take part and stand for election.
